Balaghat: You must have always heard that plants make their food through the process of photosynthesis. For this, plants have to take sunlight, carbon-dioxide along with water and mineral salts from the ground. But, if a tree has no roots then how will it complete the process of photosynthesis? There is a tree in Balaghat, whose roots are not known. People consider this tree miraculous. This tree is in Jam, about 5 kilometers away from Katangi town of Balaghat. This tree has grown over a hundreds of years old Shiva temple.
600 year old temple in village
Local people of village Jam say that the temple here is 600 years old. It is also claimed that this temple was born overnight. Along with the temple, two more temples also came into existence. A tree has been growing for years on the roof of the 600 year old temple. The special thing is that it is not known where the root of this tree is. In such a situation, this tree remains the center of attraction among the devotees coming here.
Tree species not known
Villagers say that many Botany professors and experts came to do research on this tree, but could not find out the species of this tree. Also, where its roots lie is also a mystery. This tree starts drying up after winter. At the same time, in the summer season it dries up and comes to the verge of extinction. But, as soon as it starts raining. The tree becomes green. The villagers have tried many times to grow the cuttings of this tree by planting it in the ground, but the plant did not grow from it. People believe that this tree has divine power.
Storms came, not even a tree branch fell
People claim that no matter how severe a storm comes here, nothing happens to this tree. This tree remains as it is. At the same time, other trees in the village fall in the storm, but even its branch does not fall.
Devotees come from far and wide
Devotees come from far and wide to see this ancient Shiva temple and mysterious tree of Jam. Especially during Sawan, there is a crowd of devotees here. At the same time, on the occasion of Mahashivratri, there is a rush of devotees in the temple.
